Pipe Organ Service has a portfolio of 300+ organs in churches, chapel, schools and private houses which it maintains and tunes regularly during the year.
Tuning and general maintenance is a very important part of our activities.
Pipe Organ Services has carried out many of these over the years, from full organ cleaning, rebuilds and overhauls, repairs or just cleaning of pipework.
We have an extensive wealth of experience restoring chests, bellows, casework, stencilling and more. We make and supply our own pipe slides. All work is carried out to the specification agreed with the Organist or Organ Advisor. We often work with other organ builders to assist them with their projects, be it restoration work, releathering, electrical work.
Sadly organs do not always end up in a building for the duration of their lifetime and it is our focus to save them if we can. We have moved several organs from one church to another where they give pleasure for many more years. In the case of redundant organs we always try to incorporate the correct pipework into other organs to compliment the existing pipework.
Bellows, reservoirs and motors are but a few of the things we restore here at Pipe Organ Services, with a huge wealth of experience, leather working is something we specialise in and also offer to other organ building companies.
Enhancement of existing stencilling not only improves the appearance of the organ, especially where it has faded or is damaged. You will see examples of our work in this field on the website.
Keyboards
We are currently looking into the possibility of producing our own keyboards. These will be of wood construction with rear springing and magnets which allow for differing variations of ‘touch’.
